  1. Boosting Their Self-Esteem

Kids see the reflection of whom they are through their parents eyes. This is seen in the body language, tone of voice, and words, and this is what builds or kills their self-esteem. In order to make the kids proud of their achievements or accomplishments, it is good to give them little things to do and praising them when they do them right. It is important to use the right words for every instance, avoiding comparing them to other kids, or using words that make them feel belittled.

  • Catch Them at Their Good Moments

Many a time, we find that we are reacting negatively to kids, more than we are reacting positively. Imagine having a boss who only sees your ugly side, it sucks! This is the same way that the kids must feel, and it would probably be a good idea to also find them doing positive things and reacting positively to it. Reward them for doing things the right way through love, hugs, and compliments, and you won’t believe what a positive impact it will have on their growth.

  • Set Limits and Be Consistent When it Comes to Discipline

Without discipline in the home, everything can go wrong and you will be rearing future irresponsible adults. Let the kids know what you expect of them and consistent discipline.  Let them know that name calling or teasing are not allowed and could lead to loss of privileges. Follow through with the consequences.

  • Make Time for Them

In today’s life, most parents find themselves getting caught up with the hustle to the point that they find very little time to spend with the children. This leads to the kids feeling like they are not getting any attention. Create time for the kids, have meals together, a movie night, or something of the sort.

  • Good Role Model

Most children get their behaviors from watching how their parents act. Every parent should be aware that their children are constantly watching them and they should therefore be very careful with what they do or say in front of the kids. Let them see the best traits in their parents, such as respect, kindness, and honesty. Treat them the way you would want to be treated by other people.
